Where on earth is it from?
The sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is native to Central America. This vibrant flower symbolized the sun god to indigenous people of Mexico and South America. The popularity of the sunflower spread to Europe in the 16th century. Its flowering head served as Van Gogh’s muse in one of his most famous works, appropriately titled Sunflowers.
